Meet Colleen Henn

From New York state to Southern California and now to Seattle, Colleen has always cared about the people and planet around her. As an environmentally minded surfer, she’s a passionate advocate for our oceans. She fits right in on a team that’s obsessed with helping folks do the right thing with their waste!

What's one thing all your friends would say about you? 

My friends would say that I am a fantastic listener. They would also say that I'm an encyclopedia for the best zero waste products. 

Why did you choose to work at Ridwell? What do you like best about it? 
I have been in the environmental field for over eight years now, and was called to work here because of Ridwell's values. Particularly, the company's integrity, passion for improving, and drive to pave the way for other companies to follow suit.

What have you learned on the job that surprised you? 

I recently learned that despite legislation being passed that bans the sale/distribution of plastic bags, the volume of plastic consumption has increased due to loopholes allowing “reusable," thicker plastic bags. This definitely fuels my fire to keep expanding the reach of Ridwell to keep all plastic bags out of the landfill! 

What does "community" mean to you? 
Community is currency. By sharing successes and being there for each other when things start to feel heavy, community makes the climate crisis feel a bit less overwhelming. 

What gives you hope about the future of our planet?

Getting to know, live, and work alongside people with such incredible ideas and passion for solutions to the climate crisis. I do believe individual actions still add up and make a huge impact!
